Teaching Style and Method
Students learn to play both by ear and through reading. Learning by ear and understanding theory gives students the tools to compose and improvise, while reading music gives the student the ability to play with others in any style.
Hour lessons generally begin with a few moments of meditation for calm and focus, and then are generally divided into three parts:
1. Building blocks of music (theory and technique)
2. Playing by ear and improvisation (Jazz and popular)
3. Written music (Classical)
Students can also learn music they love, such as favorite songs or movie themes, which we can use to learn piano in a fun way!
